When in Charlotte Amalie ' St. Thomas' beautiful colonial capital ' it is hard to miss the hills that tower above the coastline. One of these hills rises sharply from the bustling Havensight district and offers an incredible view of the city and the Caribbean Sea. The St. Thomas Skyride to Paradise Point takes its passengers to the top of Flag Hill, 700 feet above the city of Charlotte Amalie and its harbor. Every seven minutes, a trio of modern aerial cars climbs the cables, carrying up to 24 visitors in each trip. While the ride to Paradise Point provides a wealth of amazing scenery, the view from the top is one of the best in the Caribbean. While there are plenty of activities awaiting visitors at Paradise Point, the site has long been treasured for its remarkable scenery. Besides offering tourists an assortment of comfort foods and a front row seat for the incredible view, the Paradise Point Caf' also serves a spectacular version of the island's most popular frozen treat ' the bushwacker. Known as 'the Home of the Bailey's Bushwacker,' it is no surprise that the Paradise Point Caf' serves one of St. Thomas' best loved versions of this exotic frozen cocktail. As an added bonus, the caf' serves their bushwackers in souvenir glasses shaped like the famous cable cars. Tourists visiting when Paradise Point features extended hours will also have a chance to enjoy their food and drink while listening to live Caribbean music. Furthermore, the caf' also offers more romantic fare on certain evenings, allowing couples to enjoy a relaxed meal and the sunset above the harbor. Regardless of when you visit Paradise Point, you certainly won't have any trouble limin' ' a popular local term to describe relaxing and having fun.

After relaxing in the caf', many travelers hike the ' mile Nature Trail. Besides offering a pleasant glimpse of local plant and bird life, the trail ends with a view across the Caribbean to St. Thomas' sister island of St. Croix. Visiting families also enjoy the daily bird shows featuring a variety of exotic birds from throughout the region. As the shows are held each day at 10:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm, it is easy to catch one of these educational performances. Afterwards, it is even possible to take photos with the birds, including parrots that enjoy perching peacefully on the shoulders of their guests. Before leaving Paradise Point, you may also want check out the small shops that offer a wide variety of souvenirs and Caribbean gifts.

Thanks to the superb scenery and family-friendly entertainment, the St. Thomas Skyride to Paradise Point has won a number of local awards in recent years. Just last year, the destination was named 'Best Tourist Attraction' in St. Thomas. Additionally, Paradise Point has also claimed awards as the island's 'Best Live Entertainment Venue' and continually receives local and international praise for its dining and, of course, scenery.
