If you, the teacher, have decided to have your students write an essay for your class, then you might allow the students to come up with their own topics, or allow them to come up with their own topic following a certain outline or guide. Some of the following essay topics are mere suggestions for students and their teachers; some of which the student maybe queried about at some point in their academic career.

You might have a class in computer sciences or business, so one might try and persuade a friend to type an essay for you for a certain amount of payment. Or, you could try convincing your grandmother that she should not be frightened by computers and jump into the 21st century world of the Internet. If your school does not already have this part of their curriculum, then try to persuade your school board to give funding for Internet access in all classrooms.

If you are an Arts or Drama student then write a convincing essay about why your Drama teacher should let you star in the upcoming play or write one persuading your Art teacher to let you decide what kind of art project you want to do. If you are part of the school choir or band then write an essay about why your music teacher could teach you a particular song.

If you have a penchant for languages then write an essay about why it is a good idea to know at least two languages other than your native one. Have your exchange-student friends speak to you in their native language so that you can practice. Convince your classmates to speak French in French language class.

If you have a fondness for maths then write an essay about why one needs to learn how to do basic maths in with their brain and a pencil and paper instead of using a calculator all the time. Try to convince people that maths are a very interesting and needful part of our society and an integral part of the Universe. Try convincing your math teacher to use math games, like Sodoku, as a teaching aid.

If you are into fitness and physical activities, such as sporting events like basketball or football, then write an essay about these subjects and why you think they are so great. Try to persuade your parents that playing sports will benefit you even with the risks of getting hurt. If you happen to part of the swim team then write an essay about the benefits of swimming.

Try to persuade a chunky friend who is unhappy about his/her body image to join you in getting fit by walking 2-3 miles 4-6 days a week. Or, you can help a friend who has an eating disorder by doing your best to convince them that starving themselves, or forcing themselves to vomit every time they eat is only detrimental to their health and well-being.

As one can see, there are no limits to the subjects that can be used to write an essay about. Writing an essay isn't as hard or stressful as some folks seem to believe. Ideas are limitless and writing is not the big bad boogey-man that seems to frighten many students. Make writing an essay an enjoyable experience and you will find that it'll be a much easier task and getting that A much more satisfying.
