Car Hire Mallorca

Bored with the usual beaches, swimming pools and sun-loungers of Mallorca? Rent a car and head off for a tour of the island with Mallorca car hire. You'll view the island in a whole new light. Instead of just another cardboard cutout resort complex, you’ll be enjoying an exciting travel experience that is completely unique to you. Driving around the island of Mallorca allows you to see the island in all of its natural beauty. Romantic fishing villages, historic monasteries and fascinating museums are just a short journey away. The island’s interior is much over-looked and unfairly so. Those who venture inland will be rewarded with the spectacle of thriving farming communities, twirling windmills and olive and almond groves.

Mallorca Mini Guide:

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, situated off the eastern coast of Spain. The island has long been a popular destination for sun holidays due to its fabulous beaches and warm Mediterranean climate.

Things To See/Do in Mallorca:

Let’s face it, most people who visit Mallorca do so for its beautiful beaches, which appear to stretch as far as the eye can see. Beaches worth visiting by hire car include Banyalbufar on the north coast and Son Moll and Cala Guia on the east coast. A trip to the island’s capital Palma is recommended, if only to see the striking architecture of the Sa Seu Cathedral. Palma is a playground for shoppers too, offering a fine selection of clothing and footwear stores. Heading northwest, you’ll find small shaded coves below the peaks of Serra de Tramuntana mountain range and a handful of friendly olf towns and fishing villages.

A day-trip to the stunning mountain town of Valldemossa is also recommended. Throughout history, this town captured the hearts of many including composer Frederic Chopin.

Eating Out in Mallorca:

Eating out in Mallorca is a treat, whatever your budget and preferences. The island is a well-established tourist destination, with restaurants and eateries catering to a wide variety of tastes. Package holidaymakers on a budget are probably the island’s biggest market. This means eating out is guaranteed to be cheap. Such is the variety on offer in Mallorca that you can actually eat your way around the world in Mallorca. While on holiday it’s always worth tasting the local fare, which in this case is Frit Mallorquí and Sopes Mallorquines, a type of vegetable soup. Traditional Paella cooked with locally caught seafood is good too.

Day Trips/Events in Mallorca:

Mallorca Airport is the perfect base from which to explore some of the island’s most fascinating attractions, situated in and around Alcudia and Porto Cristo. For the ultimate Mallorca car hire experience, be sure to take a drive out along the stunning coastlines and villages of Sierra de Tramuntana.

Mallorca plays host to a number of exciting festivals and events throughout the year including Sa Rua which takes place the week of Shrove Tuesday and Semana Santa, colourful week-long processions in the run-up to Easter Sunday. Meanwhile, July’s Carro Triumfal in July celebrates the island’s patron saint Catalina Tomás.
